The Evolution of Harley Davidson

From 1903 in a small shed in Wisconsin, until now Harley-Davidson has stood the test of time.  One of the great American Motorcycle Manufactures, Harley-Davidson found a way to motor on. Through the Great Depression, the AMF (American Machine and Foundry) buy out, to re-designs and new technology the Harley-Davidson brand has found a way to stand tall.  During World War II Harley designed motorcycles for the United States to assist in military operations where speed and agility came into play.  This also bode well after the war for police use when patrolling the streets and highways with a motorcycle that offered speed and agility where it became necessary and also won over the the hearts of those that may have ridden Harleys during their time of service.

The AMF almost crippled the Harley-Davidson company when the purchased it.  They had cut the work force and streamlined production leading to lower quality motorcycles that cost more and performed poorly.  On the verge of bankruptcy they sold the company to a new group of investors.  One of the guys at the reins was William G Davidson, a descendent of the company's founding members.  With this new group of investors in control the company made a rebound and technology once again was updating.

The technology in part has gone from a kick start to a keyed battery operated start and has further progressed to the ultra modern Harley of today where you will find it on the used Harleys that we have for sale, for the everyday rider.  Harley has been there through them all and has a motorcycle to suit your style.
